Part of this project is to provide people with water filters similar to the ones shown in the photos here.

The filters are made of clay by local blind people working with a local Catholic charity. The filters cost £7.50 each and provide these blind people with an income. The clay has a small amount of silver added to it - silver kills germs and this makes the filters extremely effective at purifying the water.

But just providing the filters isn't enough ....

The people receiving the filters will need to know how to use them properly and will need to know about basic hygeine. Putting clean water into a dirty cup could still mean that they get an infection. Or failing to wash hands before preparing food may infect food washed in clean water again. So part of the project will be to run hygeine seminars for the local people. The deal is simple - attend one of our hygeine seminars and receive a free water filter!

The photos below show a couple of the filthy and dangerous wells that the local people have to use.
